2002 is Massawepie's 50th Anniversary as a Scout Camp

The Massawepie 50th Anniversary Celebration & Reunion will be held the afternoon and evening of Saturday August 3, 2002, at Massawepie. (See information below, updated 7/23/02)

Join in celebrating Massawepie's 50th Anniversary in 2002. Here are some of the activities planned:

The Massawepie Staff Alumni Association has updated the Massawepie Songbook. A new 50th anniversary edition Songbook will be available in the Camp Pioneer Trading Post, and after camp in the Otetiana Council Servicenter, along with other 50th anniversary memorabilia.

A special 50th Anniversary Celebration will be held at Massawepie on Saturday, August 3. Afternoon activities and camp tours will be free and open to the public. Saturday dinner and campfire followed by fireworks, an event patch, and an optional Sunday brunch will be available by pre-registration only. Here's the latest information on the weekend activities:

Volunteers are needed for all aspects of the August 3rd celebration. Use your old camp staff skills, or learn some new ones! Volunteer opportunities include food service, helping in a program area, special events, registration, and communications. Come join the fun, help make this once-in-a-lifetime event a success, and get a special weekend staff T-shirt. The Massawepie Alumni Association will be producing a special "50th anniversary" patch incorporating a red, white, and blue number "50". (This was a winning design in our Patch Design Contest last fall.) This patch will be available during the August 3rd Anniversary Celebration. Proceeds will be used for Alumni Association projects to benefit Massawepie, such as the Loren Hakes Campfire Circle.

Massawepie is the Boy Scout summer camp for the Otetiana Council which serves youth in Monroe County (Rochester), New York. The Massawepie Scout Camps are located on New York State Route 3 between Cranberry Lake and Tupper Lake in the Adirondack Mountains.
